Fun times on the front lawn

Well in the midst of our front porch work last weekend, we took some delicious time out for baby play. David likes to play "flying baby" with dad and study his Daddy's face.

Then we did some walking practice with Mom:

and got all cleaned up and ready for bed. I'm probably biased, but I think we have just the cutest little baby ever :) I love how much fun regular life can be with someone who's new to it all. He's liking the water more all the time!

A busy weekend!

So we've recovered enough from the transition of having a baby to get to work on the front porch.... A much anticipated house project (well, the results are anticipated anyway!) I'm so blessed to have such a handy, hardworking husband! We tore into some of the rotted floorboards and ripped out the front door to the house and the screen door to the porch and those shabby looking steps.

We enlisted some help from Junior. He isn't much good with a hammer yet, but Dad's a good teacher, so we're pretty sure he'll get it eventually :)

Here's Lucas putting together a snazzy table we found at Menards. We're going to have the cutest place for porch picnics!

I love this door with windows all down it. David's such a patient guy to let us bang away on the house and hand him big tools without complaining. He can even nap through hammering!

Whew! Not bad work, Dad! Now let's clean up that yard!
More to come .... powerwashing dingy siding and painting everything fresh and new! Praise God for our home and time and resources to fix it up even better!

The Great Outdoors (tales of the fourth month)

We love this cool weather for July! Family walks are a favorite activity, on the evenings when it's shady and sometimes early in the morning we walk with Lucas to work. I'm a little anti-stroller unless we're going far, but maybe that'll change as David gets bigger! He love to look at the trees:

Happy 4th of July! This was actually taken on the 5th at our Church picnic and dedication of the building addition. This is a rare shot of all the Heddings, as Leon's been home for a visit from England. I guess Karl didn't get the memo about red, white and blue...

Grandma loves to hold baby David:

And then when it gets hot, we like to cool off at State Farm pool. It'll be even more fun when David gets a little older, but he likes to sit on Dad's lap in the pool.
